Currently the Basin Complex fire is raging along the west coast in Monterey County. The Monterey County SPCA is going to need some volunteers, especially those with some livestock experience, and I want to make sure that if you can help, that you can represent our organization in a real positive way in helping with the animals that have been evacuated from their homes. Cooperation between animal rescue groups is critical in these times! If you are already a Redwings Horse Sanctuary Volunteer, please contact me at: groo8@aol.com or by phone at 633-0884 (message machine). I will be happy to advise you of a few things that may help you understand the chain of command for animal disaster assistance, how horses act in strange places, and a few other pointers if you want to help. If you want to bypass that information, you can call the SPCA directly and get into helping them. This is going to be a long fight for the firefighters, I really hope we get cooperative weather, and lets just all pray, think positive, and anything else we can think up to help the situation! Please forward to anyone you think may be able to help!
